Welcome to my 'Terence Corrigan' page. Since little is known about Terence, I took the liberty to travel all the way to Ireland to find his roots... Well, there was that and the roots of Guinness. And the fact that I had to be there anyway. Did I find anything, you might wonder (or not)? Well, I did find a couple of nice pubs, and one of the three big tenors of Ireland. I also found a shamrock and I managed to find my hotel after drinking 7 pints of cider and 25 pints of Guinness. Yeah, well, I couldn't remember the word for something smaller then a pint anymore. I still can't in fact. And you are not supposed to tell me :)

The Irish sept O Corrigain who had their stronghold in County Fermanagh, as a branch of the Maguires, is in fact the origin of those named 'Corrigan'. The early records of the name in the 'Annals of the four masters", indicate that the name was closely associated with clerics and abbots. The name was established in the middle ages, going south into Counties Monaghan, Meath, Roscommon and Offaly. From the name Ballycorrigan near Nenagh in County Tipperary, it also appears that it was prominent in that county. The name is now found widely in Ulster, Leinster and Connacht, in Munster, the representation is somewhat less.

Apparently, the actor that played Mr "Kick the baby" Wellard, was rather prone to attacks of laughter while they were filming Hornblower. According to some people you can even notice this in the actual film. The scene just before they hoist the cannon up the cliff, when Hobbs accuses Wellard of pushing Captain Sawyer? Look closely at Terence Corrigan's face in that scene, and you can see a smirk struggling to break through.
"It was terrible because every time I had a go at the young actor playing Wellard, he started giggling." Comment by David Warner (Captain Sawyer). Philip Glenister (Hobbs) says more or less the same "He is a bully towards young midshipman Wellard. It was great fun doing those scenes. Young Terrence is a fabulous actor but he gets terrible giggles when he's trying to be serious".

The official Wellards keepers list. And the guy that invented qwerty boards should be shot.
Wellard forever? You know there is a reason why all Irish migrated to Elsewhere
Or if you're sick of Wellard Worship, you can return to The Hammock Launderette
